Ticket to Kyoto

| 14.02.2012

Ticket to Kyoto Energy Week was held two weeks ago. In that week, the five partners, who are European transport companies, were mobilizing their personnel to save energy through small changes in behaviour, such as switching off unnecessary lighting, reducing heat consumption, and avoid wasting water. It is expected that such small efforts can deliver a big effect.

Ticket to Kyoto is a four-year project (2010 - 2014) with a goal to introduce the principle of low CO2 emissions as the new standard for public transport providers. The expected outcome is that this initiative will be followed by many other public transport companies. In the Netherlands, one of the major city regions has begun with a research to include sustainable certification as one of the assessment criteria in the public transport concession tender. Assisted by Balancia, this research aims to decarbonize a new public transport concession in this region.
