Arjen Jaarsma (1967)

Arjen is a visionary consultant with 15 years experience in sustainable mobility, especially in the fields of public transport and mobility in sustainable cities. He has a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and has carried out many sustainable mobility projects in Europe, Asia, and Africa. These projects, among others, are Sustainable Mobility in the Rotterdam Region (2009-2010), Urban Transport Project in Khujand (2010), and Pre-feasibility Studies for the Development of BRT System in Kampala (2009-2010).

Before founded Balancia in 2006, he worked for several public transportation companies, the municipality of Amsterdam and a number of consulting agencies. Arjen lives in Amsterdam and he likes swimming and travelling.

Fadiah Achmadi (1980)

Fadiah is a passionate consultant with a background in urban transport planning, specialized in public transport planning in urban areas. She holds a Master degree in Transport, Infrastructure & Logistics with 5 years working experience. In the period 2003-2007, she worked for two engineering consulting agencies and two universities in Indonesia.

She works for Balancia since January 2010 and since then she has been working on interesting public transport projects in Asia and Africa. She has also been involved in projects of traffic safety and of cycling and walking. Some of these projects are Pre-feasibility Studies for the Development of BRT System in Kampala (2010), Safer Brazil and India (2010-2012), and NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide (2010). She lives in Rijswijk and likes to read and travel.

Rana Imam (1978)

Public Transport Consultant

Rana is a broad-minded consultant with a broad working and research experience in Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Europe and Asia. She works as an independent consultant and is an associated consultant at Balancia since 2008. She has a Master in transportation engineering (American University of Beirut, Lebanon) and a PhD in transportation engineering (University College London). She has worked on BRT projects in London (UK) and Amman (Jordan).

Furthermore, Rana is experienced in many public transport aspects, from sustainable vehicle technologies to the preparation of tender documents. She lives in London and is a member of the Women’s Transport Seminar in London.

Suzanne van Rooijen (1981)

Sustainability Consultant

Suzanne is an all-round consultant and owner of Suustainable Consultancy. She works as an associated consultant for Balancia since 2007 on a regular base. She is a graduated economist and also holds a Master in international development studies. She is specialised in the fields of corporate social responsibility, international development issues and sustainable mobility (a.o, public transport, road safety, and cycling policy).

Suzanne has project experiences in the Netherlands and abroad. She has carried out several projects for Balancia such as Sustainable Mobility in the Rotterdam region (2010-2011), Biking2skool=Cool (2007-2009), en Public Transport Strategy Dubai Waterfront (2008). Suzanne lives in Amsterdam and likes sporting (ice-skating, cycling and mountain biking) and travelling.

Vincenza Mwangi-Khisa (1976)

Urban Economics Consultant

Vincenza is a consultant with a powerful personality. She is a graduated economist (Moi University in Kenya) and has a Master degree in peace studies and international relationships. She is an associated consultant at Balancia since 2008 and is an experienced project manager in Africa. Since 2000, she has worked for different organizations, among others UNDP and UN-HABITAT.

Her major qualities can be found in mobility in low-income areas and and social-economic issues. She has experience as a project manager for reducing urban poverty in Kenya. Vincenza lives in Nairobi (Kenya) and likes to travel, reads a lot and frequently attends social events.
