SaferBraInClient: European Union Year: 2009 and further SaferBraIn stands for Safer Brazil and India. Funded by the European Commission, this project is focussed on increasing the vulnerable users’ road safety. The vulnerable users are defined as cyclists and pedestrians. Brazil and India were chosen as the countries in which the pilot projects took place. They are representing other Emerging Economies with high numbers of road accidents. These numbers are very high compared to those in European countries. Therefore, the main idea of SaferBraIn project is a knowledge transfer between Europe; and Brazil and India to reduce the number of fatalities in Emerging Economies caused by road accidents. The European best practices with regard to road safety management process are transferred and are adjusted by considering the local situations. Of this, SaferBraIn is expected to contribute to the improvement of road safety conditions in Brazil and India. The main output of SaferBraIn is recommendations and guidelines for road safety management procedures, infrastructure design and road safety audit. The expected outcome of this project is that the end results can be used as a basis for other researches of road safety in other Emerging Economies. Balancia is one of 12 partners, who are involved in the consortium that conducts this project. The members of this consortium are coming from Brazil, India, and European countries. Further information about SaferBraIn project can be accessed on www.saferbrain.eu. The next project meeting, which is the 4th meeting, will be held in Loughborough, United Kingdom. In this meeting, all partners will meet to discuss the state of affairs and the programme of the project in the next months. |
